We took an evening ride in a replica Voyageur canoe at Lake St. Clair Metropark.  Our guides from the park’s nature center gave us a short lesson on the French fur traders who explored this area and what their life was like. They shared artifacts and stories of that time. After that we got to take to the water. Everyone got to paddle and we steered the canoe out into the marsh. As we went along, our guides pointed out the natural features and added more details about the Voyageur. We go to see the evening wildlife – a family of swans, a swimming mink, swooping birds, and more.  We floated silently in the marsh watching the sun set.
